So many celebs are posting epic Met Gala throwback photos in preparation for Monday—here are the best
The Met Gala is basically the Super Bowl for fashion-lovers, and the show seemingly outdoes itself every year. After the 2018 Met Gala brought us “Heavenly Bodies,” the 2019 Met Gala’s theme is “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” and we’re beyond excited to see how over-the-top things get.
According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s website, the Met Gala is the annual fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the museum. It began in 1948 as a private dinner, although it’s grown and changed over the years. In 1995, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour began overseeing the event and shaped it into the star-studded affair that we know today. This year’s show is set for Monday, May 6th, and so many celebrities have been posting throwback photos from past years. Here’s some of the best:
The model and actress shared seven of her previous Met Gala looks to Instagram, including her silver-painted shaved head in 2017.
Lively turned her elaborate gown from the 2018 gala into a hilarious meme.
The beauty mogul gave her fans a look at her Met Gala appearances over the past three years. As she pointed out in her Instagram story, she gave birth three months before the 2018 event.
The second-youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters shared a shot from the 2018 gala to her Instagram story.
The supermodel shared a video of her strutting her stuff in last year’s outfit.
“I see you Monday,” the actress wrote over a picture of her 2018 look.
All these amazing throwbacks have us even more excited for the 2019 Met Gala. We can’t wait to see our favorite humans pull out all the stops for this year’s theme.
