Imagine going to Drake and Migos’ Aubrey and the Three Amigos tour at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. That’s exciting enough on its own, right? But then, add in a surprise performance by Cardi B—her first since giving birth—and things go from exciting to mindblowing. Well, that’s exactly what happened on Saturday, August 25th.
Rolling Stone reports that the “Bodak Yellow” rapper surprised fans during the show to perform her part on Migos’ song “MotorSport.” The show was a family affair, of course, since Cardi’s husband, Offset, is part of the group.
Fans were stoked to see Cardi B back on stage. Just a little over a month ago, on July 10th, she and Offset welcomed their baby, a daughter named Kulture Kiari Cephus. After giving birth, Cardi canceled her plans to tour with Bruno Mars due to her new role as a mother. She announced her tour cancellation with a note on Twitter.
“I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically. I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think that I underestimated this whole mommy thing,” Cardi tweeted. “Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”
Even if she doesn’t feel ready to take part in a grueling tour—which is completely understandable—based on the videos from her surprise appearance, it seems that the “I Like It” rapper still has every ounce of badassery that she always did.
Cardi B brought the house down during her surprise performance.
Just watch her strut down the stage with her super long hot pink hair.
In a tweet that Cardi B posted following the surprise performance, she told her fans she was nervous.
But it sounds like her nerves only energized her performance even more.
Earlier on Friday, Cardi B posted a cryptic photo from a private plane in her new pink locks.
She captioned the photo, “im on my way to you.” As the Instagram account CommentsByCelebs pointed out, Offset responded by commenting, “HURRY HURRY HURRY.” Little did we know that their reunion would happen on stage that night.
Later, Cardi posted a backstage Instagram from the show-stopping performance.
And she looked as fly as ever.
As Rolling Stone noted, Cardi B will officially return to performing with a show scheduled for September 29th at Global Citizen Festival in New York. Who knows, though? She may just pop up at another Migos show before then, okuuurrrrr?
