It’s 2019, which means when the government shuts down for the longest time in U.S. history, Cardi B will inevitably have something to say about it. And someone will also then inevitably turn her thoughts into a catchy musical remix…because that’s just the world we live in now. On Thursday, January 17th, The Gregory Brothers tweeted out their “first co-write” with the rap artist, set to Cardi’s hit “Bodak Yellow.”

Cardi’s thoughts on the Obama-era government shutdown for healthcare (“Grandma can check her blood pressure”) is now accompanied by a vehement “Yeah, bitch!” while “I know a lot of y’all don’t care” gets a, “No, bitch!”

Here was the original post, in case you missed it.

The above comments about the shutdown went viral, garnering widespread praise even from lawmakers.

The government has now been shut down for nearly a month, and thousands of federal employees have been showing up for work without pay. Here’s to hoping Cardi’s message reaches Trump…because so far, nothing else has.
