A Broadway actor told Kanye West to put his phone away during a live performance
As anyone who has ever seen a play or musical knows, keeping your phone out during a live performance is, well, rude AF. And one Broadway actor recently called out Kanye West for doing the ultimate live theater no-no. According to HuffPost, Kanye attended the December 3rd opening of The Cher Show when Jarrod Spector, who plays Sonny Bono, noticed the rapper was paying more attention to his phone than to the stage. So Spector took matters into his own hands.
Many theater fans applauded Spector’s callout.
Some referenced Tony Award-winning actress Patti LuPone, who famously snatched a cell phone from an audience member in 2015.
Spector’s very public message seemed to do the job. Kanye responded by owning up to his behavior in a tweet—which he posted after the show was over.
Okay, we forgive you, Kanye. Just don’t do it again, please.
