HBO pretty much won the internet this week when it announced our Big Little Lies Season 2 casting dreams had come true: The one and only Meryl Streep will be heading to Monterey. Naturally, we fans freaked out like we’ve never freaked out before. And it appears the stars of Big Little Lies also have very little chill when it comes to the Meryl Streep. Which is to say, the OG cast was all up on social media celebrating the news right along with us.

ICYMI: Streep will be playing Mary Louise Wright on the show, aka the mother of Perry (Alexander Skarsgard). So far, Skarsgard, who just nabbed another trophy at the SAG Awards for playing the abusive husband of Nicole Kidman’s Celeste, hasn’t made any public statements about winning the fictional mom lottery. But then again, his character is — SPOILER ALERT — dead. (That said, Perry will reportedly be showing up in some capacity for Season 2. Maybe flashbacks?)

From an acting perspective, the addition of Streep to the Big Little Lies #SQUAD is probably even more thrilling for people like Laura Dern, Reese Witherspoon, and Kidman, who will actually get to work with her, than it is for us fans. Streep, after all, just broke her own record — AGAIN — for most Oscar-nominated person, scoring her 21st nomination for her role in The Post. So if you’re a star who’s going to be starstruck, Streep is a good choice.

With that in mind, Dern shared an image of Streep on her Instagram, saying her acting dream had come true (amen, Laura).

Witherspoon and Kidman also shared their joy at the exciting cast mate news.

Of course, Big Little Lies has proved it’s an awards show powerhouse on its own, so getting in on the buzz isn’t a bad move on Streep’s part either. The initially limited series has already earned four Golden Globes, five Emmys, and two SAG Awards, BUT STILL.

Big Little Lies isn’t set to come back until next year, but in the meantime, at least we have celebrity-on-celebrity social media fangirling to hold us over.
