Here's why Beyoncé's headlining appearance at Coachella is so monumental
It shouldn’t be surprising that Beyoncé’s show-stopping performance at Coachella 2018 will likely be the highlight of the music and arts festival. The woman known as Queen Bey headlined Coachella on Saturday, April 14th and, as predicted, she put on an incredible show. There were four outfit changes, nonstop choreography (during which she was *still* able to hold those incredible notes), and even a surprise Destiny’s Child reunion.
In short, Beyoncé’s headlining appearance at Coachella was pretty monumental, and not just because of her artistry and extraordinary talent (or her unbelievable ability to make it all look so easy). The significance of her performance went far beyond that: She was the first-ever black woman to headline Coachella, a feat that didn’t escape the Grammy-winning artist on Saturday night.
We love that Beyoncé was the one to achieve this history-making feat, and it seems like she was beyond thrilled about it too. In between singing “Sorry” and “Bow Down/I Been On,” she told the crowd: “This is a very important performance for me. I’m happy to be back home on the stage tonight.”
Fans were just as happy to experience the unforgettable moment with Beyoncé, whether they were in the audience or watching from home.
Let’s all bow down to Queen Bey.
Coachella just officially became known as #Beychella.
