The man behind Barney the Dinosaur is now a tantric sex therapist
Today in the world of unexpected news, the actor who played Barney the Dinosaur now apparently works as a tantric sex therapist. David Joyner, who donned the famous purple dinosaur suit on Barney & Friends from 1991 to 2001, told Vice that he’s now a “tantra massage specialist and spiritual healer” whose goal is to “fully release a woman’s blocked energy.”
For $350 a session, Joyner’s female-only clients get a session with him that lasts three to four hours. The cost includes a ritual bath, chakra balancing, and a massage that can lead to “mind-blowing orgasms.” He started his practice in 2004 and treats around 30 clients, whom he refers to as “goddesses.” Joyner also revealed that his tantra training helped him exude the love and joy that Barney was well known for.
But wait…there’s more.
“Before I got into the [Barney] costume, I would pray and ask God to allow his loving divine spirit to flow through me through the costume and let that draw the kids,” he added. “That energy would always draw them in. Children are more connected spiritually than [adults].”
Joyner’s new job may come as a surprise to many, but to Barney & Friends head writer Stephen White, it all makes sense.
“I did know David was a very spiritual guy, very positive guy — he radiated energy. He was a positive person to be around,” White recalled in the same piece. “I thought it was an interesting transition for Barney. It’s kind of still the ‘I love you, you love me’ deal, but different.”
It’s safe to say we may never listen to that song the same way again.
