A contestant on the new season of The Bachelor is faking an Australian accent...seriously
Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor premiered last night, January 3rd, and there’s already something very strange afoot (yes, even stranger than that shark/dolphin suit from the first episode of Nick Viall’s season). One contestant, 24-year-old Bri, exited her limo and greeted Colton with a “So nice to meet you.” However, the Southern California native (as listed in her bio on the show’s website) said those five words in a distinctly Australian accent.
“You’ve got a nice accent. Where you from?” Colton asked.
Bri took a slight pause before saying, “The accent is Australian. I was hoping you’re a sucker for accents.”
Wow. We have a lot of questions. Like, when will Bri come clean to Colton? Can she keep up this fake accent for days (if not weeks)? And, perhaps most importantly, why didn’t she choose an easier accent to fake?
Perhaps unexpectedly, a lot of Bachelor fans are totally okay with the lie. Some even pointed out that it’s technically not a lie, because she merely said the accent was Australian.
She’s even gaining a following among people who don’t even watch the show. And that’s pretty damn impressive.
You can watch the next episode of The Bachelor (and hopefully get some further answers on this whole accent situation) on Monday, January 7th at 8 p.m. on ABC. We can’t wait.
