Insta-queen Selena Gomez (and, one of our favorite humans) is no longer the most-followed woman on Instagram. Ariana Grande has officially taken the crown—breaking yet another record in 2019. As of February 26th, Grande has a whopping 146.3 million followers, slimly surpassing Gomez, who has a following of 146.2 million.

Grande, who became the first artist since The Beatles to hold the number one, two, and three slots on the Billboard Hot 100, has already had quite the year (and we’re not even done with February yet). The singer’s Thank U, Next album is dominating the charts: “7 Rings” is currently in its fifth week in the No. 1 spot, and “Thank U, Next”—which has already been out for 16 weeks—remains in the No. 4 spot as of today, February 26th.

Gomez held the top spot for women on Instagram for about three years. And up until October 2018, Gomez was the most-followed person on the entire platform. However, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed Gomez and currently holds the record with an impressive 155.9 million followers.

However, we have a feeling Gomez isn’t too bothered. She even recently took a break from the platform entirely.

“Update: taking a social media break. Again,” Gomez captioned a September 23rd post. “As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.”

While Grande’s new Instagram record is certainly impressive, let’s remember that social media is not a competition. We will continue to proudly worship both Insta princesses, thank you.
