As if we weren’t stoked enough to see Ariana Grande perform “God Is A Woman” at the 2018 VMAs, we were even more excited to see her accompanied by over 50 diverse female backup dancers—including her mother, cousin, and grandmother. Grande basically turned the awards show into a worship service for women, and we were here for it.

The pop icon dropped her latest album, Sweetener, on August 17th, and it’s everything we prayed for. Ahead of the album’s release, “God Is A Woman” dropped in mid-July and the single instantly became the song of the summer. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter on August 19th that Grande’s “God Is A Woman” VMAs set would be “nothing short of God-like.”

And Grande delivered.

The performance began with an all-female recreation of the Last Supper, including a badass and beautiful black Jesus. It then turned into an epic dance routine (full of fire and voguing), and culminated with Grande being joined on stage by the most important women in her life.

You can watch the full performance here:

Yesterday, August 19th, Grande posted a photo to Instagram that appeared to give fans a preview of what they could expect from the show. The singer captioned the photo, “see u tomorrow @vmas@mtv #godisawoman.”

The VMAs performance lineup also included Grande, Panic! At The Disco, Logic, Shawn Mendes, and Jennifer Lopez (who hadn’t taken the VMAs stage since 2001).

Bowing down.
