On Tuesday, May 29th, ABC canceled Roseanne after its star, Roseanne Barr, compared former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett to an ape, which was just the tip of an iceberg built upon years of racist tweets, alt-right propaganda, and her other troubling political views. After her show was canceled, Barr tried to chalk up her racist behavior to “ambien tweeting,” but Ambien manufacturer Sanofi stepped in to expertly state that they’d like to be removed from this narrative.

Barr went on a bizarre Twitter spree that included the now-deleted Ambien tweet:

Barr continued to mention the sleep-aid and later tweeted: “Not giving excuses for what I did(tweeted) but I’ve done weird stuff while on ambien — cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc.”

When Sanofi caught wind of her “apology,” they delivered this response.

There is no excuse for Barr’s behavior, especially ridiculous claims that she was chemically sleepy or that it was Memorial Day. Worse still, Barr continues to insist that her racist tweet was only a joke.

Though Barr insists that she’s logged off from Twitter, we have a feeling this won’t be the end of this story.
