In the past few days, two black men have been shot and killed by police officers. Their names were Alton Sterling, who was killed in Louisiana while selling CDs, and Philando Castile, who was killed in his car in Minnesota after being pulled over for a busted taillight. Both instances were caught on film, and Philando’s in particular was broadcast on social media by his girlfriend using Facebook Live. Our hearts are aching for their families and loved ones, and for all those who are made to feel unsafe by these tragic events.

“I promise I will do everything and my administration will do everything in our power to see this matter brought to justice,” Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton told reporters in reference to Philando Castile’s death, reports Yahoo. “Justice will be served in Minnesota.”

While the details of both cases are still unfolding, people across the world are taking to social media to discuss the deaths of black men and women by police officers and how to stop it.
