Anyone who’s ever suffered from acne can tell you that it can take up a lot of your mental and emotional space. As much as we strive to love ourselves and our bodies, at the end of the day, acne makes many of us feel self-conscious (not to mention, it literally hurts). Some of us have spent countless dollars in an endless search for often-pricey products to help sooth our skin. But makeup artist Antonio Bermudez wants us to know that an affordable drugstore skincare routine can be incredibly effective, and he’s posting his before-and-after acne pics to prove it.

Firstly, Bermudez makes it clear that acne is 100% normal and a ton of people struggle with it. “If you are going through an acne struggle small or big, it’ll be okay I promise,” he wrote in an Insta post. “I don’t want you to feel alone, abnormal, or ugly because of it. It’s literally NORMAL AF, just drill that through your head.”

However, he also wanted to share what has worked for him in terms of clearing up his skin so that it might help others going through the same thing:

While several of the products he recommends in the above post are on the pricier side for drugstore products (Dermalogica, for example, is more expensive than certain other exfoliating products), on the whole, it’s a relatively affordable skincare regimen, and you can get all the products at your local drugstore. And some of the products are super affordable (like the Cetaphil bar soap), which evens things out.

As awesome as this is, it’s also important to remember that everyone’s skin is different, so what works for one person won’t necessarily work for everyone. As Bermudez wrote in another post, “[…] Remember that what works for me may not work for you.”

We hope some of the above info is helpful — and remember, when it comes to acne, you’re not alone.
