We officially have a new ‘Ant-Man’ trailer and it is time to get excited

With all this ongoing talk about The Avengers, you might have forgotten to get excited about another big superhero coming this summer: Ant-Man. Have you ever had that dream where Paul Rudd saves the world? I hope your answer is “yes” and if so, this is totally the Marvel movie for you.

Rudd plays Scott Lang, a thief who’s trying to reform and stop stealing. His plan might work, except for the fact that he’s then recruited to steal something for his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas). This is where things get a little trippy and the Ant-Man suit comes into play, giving Scott the ability to shrink down to the size of an ant. It also gives him crazy insane fighting powers.

Just who does Ant-Man have to fight? In keeping with the bug theme, he has to battle Yellowjacket (played by Corey Stoll. Like THE Corey Stoll. Like Corey Stoll from House of Cards), who unlike Ant-Man, can fly. Yellowjacket (whose non-super villain name is Darren Cross) wants to do a whole smattering of contradictory things: take over the world, destroy the world, change the future — you know, the typical bad guy stuff.

The trailer also features Evangeline Lilly (who plays Hope Van Dyne) and spends the trailer punching Rudd in the face, and joking about how Ant-Man isn’t exactly the best name (I mean, it’s no Hulk). Oh, this little teaser also includes a high-speed chance on top of Thomas the Tank Engine. Clearly, Ant-Man is not your typical Marvel movie. Honestly, it might just be the first one to make us hardcore LOL. Genre bending to the max.
