What New Year’s Eve is like in college vs. post-grad
December 31st: A day to solemnly reflect on what we’ve learned over the past year, and what we hope to accomplish in the next year.

New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest parties of the year. Few days come with as much pressure to HAVE FUN, STAY UP LATE and WEAR SPARKLES. How we actually go about having said fun, though, changes quite a bit. In college, New Year’s Eve is an opportunity to drink cheap champagne, go to a bunch of parties, and make out with that guy from your Intro to Modern Cinema class. Post-grad, it’s an opportunity to catch up on sleep — and maybe binge on some Netflix.
Here are some ways ringing in the New Year changes between college and post-grad.
College, December 31st, 5 p.m.
So many parties! I hope I can make it to all of them!!
Post-grad, December 31st, 5 p.m.
Ugh, so many parties. I don’t wanna pay $80 to get into some overcrowded bar. Maybe I’ll just bail and tell everyone I’m not feeling well.
College, 5:30 p.m.
This year, my resolutions are to show up to all of my classes, run a 10K, and stop ordering pizza at 2 a.m.
Post grad, 5:30 p.m.
This year, my resolutions are to wear sunscreen to combat premature aging, figure out what a “credit score” is, and stop ordering pizza at 2 a.m.
College, 6:00 p.m.
My dress is short and sexy and glittery AF and I don’t even care that it’s near-freezing outside — I’m ready to PAAARTAY.
Post-grad, 6:00 p.m.
It’s so chilly! If only these sweatpants had lil’ feet, and they connected to a sweater or something, and the sweater had a hood and… that’s a onesie. I’m describing a onesie.
College, 8 p.m.

Putting on this onesie was honestly an amazing decision. I’m just gonna pour myself a nice glass of Merlot and see what’s on the ol’ Netflix here. Ooh, I haven’t watched Lost in forever.
College, 10:00 p.m.
Omg, this party is amazing. This music is great, my dance moves are killing it, and I think that guy Derek is making eyes at me! On to party #3!!
Post-grad, 10:00 p.m
Omg, this show is amazing. Kate is a badass, Locke is creepy but also intriguing, and I think that guy Jack might have a pro-ceding hairline! On to bottle #2!!
College, 11:00 p.m.
