Woah, honey! There’s a new “Winnie-the-Pooh” character, and he’ll give you the chills

In the absolute cutest news of the day, there’s a new Winnie-the-Pooh character coming to the Hundred Acre Wood, and he’s going to make you want to grab a mug of hot cocoa.
Joining everyone’s favorite hunny-loving cuddly bear (and his friends Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, and Tigger) is Penguin – and he’s every bit as cute as you’d imagine.

Penguin will make his debut appearance in the latest installment of the late A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh saga titled The Best Bear in All the World, which is slated for an October 25th release date. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the cuddly forest animals and their adventures, so they’re honoring the saga with this book, which is broken down into four seasonal installments and written by four modern authors.
Penguin’s story will, of course, be told during winter, when Pooh Bear is stocked up on honey and hiding out in hibernation. Penguin’s storywriter Brian Sibley told The Telegraph,
"I wanted to find a way of successfully introducing a brand new character into Pooh's world, whilst being sympathetic to the tone and style of the original books."
Though he’s new to the Winnie-the-Pooh canon, Penguin was inspired by a photograph Sibley had seen of Milne with his son, the real-life Christopher Robin.

"While pondering what other toys Christopher Robin might have owned but which were never written about, I remember seeing a photograph of father and son playing on the nursery floor with Winnie-the-Pooh and — a penguin!" Sibley told The Huffington Post.
We’ll have to wait until October 25th to officially meet Penguin, but we can hardly wait. We’ve already got our earmuffs on!
