Um, did the new “Star Wars: Episode 8” title just get accidentally revealed?
While most people are waiting for the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, some look to the future: Details about the upcoming Star Wars: Episode 8 film are highly sought after. So it makes perfect sense that even the title getting accidentally revealed is a huge deal.
In addition to being one of the biggest franchises on the planet, Star Wars is also one of the most secretive. They do not let any details slip out. Every plot twist needs to feel organic. Because you can’t have a “Luke, I am your father” moment if everyone already knows all about it.
Instead, all we have are fan theories and speculations. Until now. If this possible title spotted by fans is the real one (although more on why it might not be in a sec!) We finally have some concrete info!
The Big Reveal
So what is it?! Apparently, AVS Forum looked into Disney and Lucasfilm allegedly submitting a title to the European Union Intellectual Property Office. This is done to help protect titles from infringement and register them in the EU. According to fans, one title submitted is Star Wars: The Forces of Destiny.
Before we all freak out, bear in mind a few important things: First, they could be registering fake titles to hide the real one. Second, the title could be for something like a video game or other spin-off property, and NOT episode 8.
It’s important to remember that leaks are often fake.
There has already been one debunked leak in the past. A poster with the potential title earlier this year was a deemed a hoax. And with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming out so soon, Disney might not want to dilute down the frenzy with ANOTHER huge piece of news. So take this possible title with a grain of salt.
On the other hand, if this is the real title, the possibilities are endless. What could “Forces of Destiny” refer to? Could this be about Rey’s connection with Luke? The general idea of having a path to walk down? Maybe this has nothing to do with the story we’ve watched so far. In the end, we’ll just have to wait. Hopefully the final reveal will be just as glorious as the ones from previous movies.
