Pottermore just brought back our favorite feature
In 2012, JK Rowling launched the website Pottermore to the delight of Harry Potter fans around the globe. The website was the key to everything we could ever want when it comes to the Wizarding World, including games, background information, and secrets straight from J.K Rowling’s brain. Then, in September, it completely relaunched, leaving many of the original features in the dust, such as potion-making, dueling, and exploring the books scene-by-scene. However, they’ve finally resurrected perhaps our favorite part of the site: The Sorting Hat.
Both old and new users will need to create accounts, but if you were a part of Pottermore before, there’s a way to get back all your old information. I learned that after the fact, when I was erroneously sorted into Gryffindor even though I am, and always will be, a Ravenclaw.
I also answered questions and was given a new wand.
This is just the beginning. The website has heavily hinted that a feature allowing users to discover their Patronus is in the works, and who knows what else they have up their sleeves?
Despite the changes, the website remains the number one place for fans to turn to in search of all things Harry Potter. Shop the e-books, get updates on Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and sink slowly into J.K Rowling’s imagination, now with the confidence of a Gryffindor, the wisdom of a Ravenclaw, the grace of a Hufflepuff, or the cunningness of a Slytherin.
