A new New Doubt album is coming… Without Gwen Stefani

No Doubt without Gwen Stefani is something we cannot imagine. Literally. Every time we try to picture the band, Stefani is right there – front and center, platinum blonde hair and red lipstick and all. Yet, it seems we’re going to have to work on our visualization skills because times are a-changin’.

Billboard recently announced that, as Gwen Stefani works on her solo career, the rest of No Doubt will be moving on without her. Drummer Adrian Young, guitarist Tom Dumont, and bassist Tony Kanal are now collaborating with AFI lead vocalist Davey Havok (weird, we know). Plus, they’ve already recorded an album together and are looking for a record label. (Is it just us or are things moving way too fast? We need time to process!)

Just in case you’re thinking that this is a phase and that the band will reunite in a blaze of rock glory, all members of No Doubt are taking this transition very seriously. Young, Dumont, Kanal, and Havok have already hired Green Day’s old manager Pat Magnarella. As for Stefani, she hired manager Irving Azoff  and has a new album – called This Is What the Truth Feels Like – coming out on March 18th. (Yup. Definitely moving too fast.)

The remaining No Doubt members and Havok have not yet revealed a new band name and have not announced when fans will be able to hear the album. During an interview with Billboard, Young also made it seem as though Stefani’s role in the band is still a bit vague, stating, “We’re in a little bit of limbo right now, so we’ll see where that takes us.

Though we’re sad to see that No Doubt is no more (pun intended – sorry, too soon?), our interest is piqued. Both Stefani and the new quartet seem to be very passionate about their current projects and we cannot wait to see what they end up producing.
