New Kids On The Block’s upcoming tour is basically an IRL collection of all your ’80s Walkman playlists

New Kids On The Block’s upcoming tour is a trek back in time, back to a time when a mixtape was a playlist you cobbled together on a cassette tape (shoutout to the aging millennials and xennials who know what we’re talking about). If you were around for the golden era of the mixtape, then you’ll probably be delighted to learn that New Kids On The Block is touring with Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, and Naughty By Nature on their 2019 “Mixtape” tour.

The ’80s musical explosion hits the road on May 3rd, 2019 and will stop at 53 U.S. cities. To celebrate the announcement, all five groups collaborated on a new single, “80’s Baby,” which sounds like a perfectly engineered ’80s radio hit, but with all the bells and whistles of a modern-day pop song. To be honest, this song feels so nostalgic and summery, we’re sad we don’t have a pool to lounge by while we blast this breezy throwback song on repeat.

The band announced the tour on their website and expressed their hope to eventually expand the tour worldwide.

"We’re creating a mixtape on tour, every night, in every city," Donnie Wahlberg said on the Today show. "It's gonna to be fun, happiness, emotions, tears, joy, love."

“This music was from such a happy era, and a pure era,” Debbie Gibson added. “We want to take people back, but we’re all current and vital as well and [want to] move people forward.”
