A new “Harry Potter” comic was released to honor the Pulse nightclub victims
After the June mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, you may have been looking for ways to help the people who were impacted by this tragedy. Now, a new comic book featuring a Harry Potter comic will benefit the shooting victims. The book, called Love Is Love, will be available on December 28th and J.K. Rowling gave her blessing for it to feature a quote from and an image based on her beloved book series — and it will move you to tears.
Comic book author and screenwriter Marc Andreyko came up with the idea behind Love Is Love after the Orlando mass shooting. Considering that Rowling showed her support for the victims through Twitter and wrote, “I can’t stop crying,” it’s not surprising that she agreed to one of her quotes to be used. Rowling approved the use of an Albus Dumbledore quotation from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire that goes:
Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.
– Dumbledore
The quote is accompanied by a comic drawn by Jim Lee. As Andreyko told The New York Times, “If we get the biggest-selling author on the planet, we need the biggest artist.” false
The comic features Hermione, Harry, Ron, and Dumbledore standing with their wands raised in the air with a rainbow above them. Not only are Dumbledore’s words fitting, but so is the inclusion of his character since Rowling has said that the Hogwarts headmaster is gay and the shooting targeted the LGBTQ community.

All of the proceeds from the book will go to Equality Florida and will directly benefit the shooting’s victims, survivors, and their families.
After such a tragic event, this gorgeous Harry Potter comic and quotation shed just a little ray of hope. Support the cause by purchasing Love Is Love when it’s released on December 28th and by being an advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ community.
