Zooey Deschanel posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the final season of “New Girl” — and please, keep these coming

The final season of New Girl may see big changes for our favorite True American aficionados, but it seems one thing will definitely still be around when the series airs next year: the loft.

New Girl‘s shortened final season will pick up with the group three years after the events of Season 6 — which saw them making serious life changes. Newlyweds Cece and Schmidt not only took the plunge and bought a house, they also learned they’re expecting a baby. Meanwhile, Winston and Aly got engaged and — eek! — Nick and Jess finally got back together.

The group is moving on with their lives, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be saying goodbye to one of its most important characters so soon.

The loft not only brought the guys and Jess (and Cece) together, but it’s been the center of most of the action throughout the series. Luckily, thanks to this behind-the-scenes photo posted by New Girl star Zooey Deschanel, we’re getting another look at their beloved loft space.

Now, after three years, we have to ask: Who is living in the loft?

Our money is on Nick and Jess because come on, it has to be them, right? TVLine reports that the time jump will see a very happy Nick and Jess together. And let’s face it, the loft is the center of their relationship. Plus, that (pictured) coffee table plant *screams* Jess.

But it looks as though New Girl is going to throw us for a loop one last time: it was announced that Dermot Mulroney will return for the final season as Jess’s ex Russell “Fancyman” Shiller, whom we haven’t seen since Season 2. Could Fancyman be returning to challenge Nick for Jess’s affection?

We have no idea, but it looks as though New Girl is pulling out all the stops for its final season, which airs in 2018.
