“New Girl” creator Liz Meriwether has new show set in Antarctica and we’re already addicted

FOX loves New Girl creator Liz Meriwether as much as we do!
The network has signed on to back Meriwether’s new show set in Antarctica called Thin Ice and we can’t wait to watch it.
Don’t panic New Girl fans, this doesn’t mean the hilarious comedy following Jessica Day (played by Zooey Deschanel) and her loft mates is going off the air anytime soon. It does however mean that we will be getting double the TV brilliance from the show’s creator.
FOX has officially made a pilot production commitment, Variety reports, which means Thin Ice — which is a single-camera series set in Antartica — has the green light from the network.
Thin Ice is about a woman who takes back her life and follows her dreams when she finds herself in Antarctica surrounded by a group of misfits who are brilliant. So no Los Angeles loft mates? So sad!
"FOX has been and continues to be such a great home for me with New Girl and now I'm looking forward to making a pilot about the sexiest place on earth — Antarctica," Meriwether told Variety about her exciting new pilot. "And, yes, we will be shooting on location, so I think we're going to find a cast very soon," she joked.
Meriwether already co-wrote the pilot script for the show with Ed Macdonald and Mark Grimmer. She will also be an executive producer on it with fellow New Girl EP, Katherine Pope, along with Macdonald and Grimmer.
"Liz is a great friend of ours, and her take on the important genre of South Pole comedy is as brilliant, specific and hilarious as New Girl," president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, David Madden told the publication.
"Thin Ice takes place in a world that half-hour television has never touched, and does it with original characters, an inimitable voice, and Liz-style surprising romance. It's as fresh and distinctive as anything we've read this year, and we're excited to move forward with Liz and her fantastic team of Ed, Mark and Katherine," he added.
While there is still no cast on board and filming hasn’t begun, we’re very excited about this new cold-weather comedy. Until we do have a premiere date, or news about at least one actor being cast, we’ll just have to keep ourselves entertained with new episodes of New Girl, which is never a bad idea.
New Girl airs Tuesdays on Fox at 8:30 p.m.
