The ‘Finding Dory’ movie poster is here. We are freaking out

Guess what’s coming in 22o days? Finding Dory (aka the sequel to Finding Nemo)! The movie will be released June 17, 2016 and we are just SO EXCITED WE CANNOT WAIT! No, but really. It’s very, very hard for us to wait. Which is probably why Disney Pixar just gifted us with something to hold us over a little while longer: the movie’s first poster.

What’s even better is that it was posted, on Twitter, by Ellen DeGeneres herself! (All these exclamation points are symbolic of our delight, by the way!)

The poster features a visually stunning, aquatic backdrop that was undoubtedly created by the one and only Pixar studio. Then, of course, there’s Dory – who’s swimming with the quote “She just kept swimming…” in her wake. This tagline is perfection. The minimalism is perfection. It’s all… perfection!

In addition to this poster, DeGeneres made it known that an exclusive first look at Finding Dory will appear tomorrow on ellentube. This week is just getting better and better.

12 years after Finding Nemo, Dory will continue this underwater legacy. Even though its been many years since the original was released, Finding Dory‘s storyline will actually take place only six months after the first film. The plot will revolve around Dory’s desire to figure out where she came from. According to Pixar president Jim Morris, “The movie will be mostly set at the California Marine Biology Institute, a huge complex of sea life rehabilitation and aquarium, where Dory was born and raised. We will get to meet new characters, like an octopus, sea lions, a beluga whale, among others.” Bonus: Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell and Ed O’Neil will, respectively, voice the beluga whale and octopus.

Albert Brooks – who voiced clown fish Marlin – will also return for the sequel, which includes cast members like Diane Keaton, Idris Elba, Dominic West, Kaitlin Olsen, and Eugene Levy. The original director, Andrew Stanton, will also be returning to make this project the best it can possibly be.

So, what will we do in the meantime, as we wait for 220 days to pass? Naturally, we’ll just keep swimming…
