A new clothing collection from Obey and punk icon Debbie Harry is here
Blondie front woman Debbie Harry’s much-anticipated collab collection with Obey dropped today, and OMG it’s badass. The pieces are all modern, but they evoke Harry’s one-of-a-kind, sexy-meets-punk sensibility, while staying true to Obey creator and renowned street artist Shepard Fairey’s streetwear aesthetic.
As Fairey said of Harry in a statement,
"Blondie’s front woman Debbie Harry is one of the fiercest women in punk rock and defined the New York look with her attitude, style, and amazing voice. Considering Debbie’s undisputed role as a counterculture style icon, it’s an incredible honor to collaborate with her on a special, limited-edition Obey clothing line."
The womenswear line, announced last year as a partnership between Harry and Fairey, incorporates Harry’s personal photography with fine art and design from Fairey. The collection includes jumpsuits, long-sleeve T-shirts, an enamel pin— even a dad hat. It’s available now on the Obey website, and also at a month-long concept pop-up shop on Los Angeles’ trendy Melrose Avenue.
The shop, which also features a zine newsstand (so ’90s) is open at 7400 Melrose Ave. until September 3rd. Check it out if you’re in L.A.!
