Wait, are we getting a new ‘Back to the Future’ movie?!

“Roads? Where we’re going, we won’t need roads.”

To this day, that quote from the first Back to the Future movie sends little shivers of nerdy happiness down my spine. Oh, Doc Brown. <3

Needless to say, I was filled to the brim with said nerdy happiness when yesterday, the official Back to the Future Facebook page posted this cryptic little teaser with only the caption “#BTTF2015” to guide our speculation.

This raises so many questions, mainly what IS this? WHAT, we ask.

If you’re a Back to the Future fan, you know that in Back to the Future Part II, our friends Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and Jennifer Parker travel 30 years into the future . . . to 2015. Obviously, the creators certainly haven’t forgotten this little fact. The poster could definitely be a little inside head nod to that cinematic reality, or a low-key acknowledgement of the future year Marty, Doc, and Jennifer traveled to three decades ago.

But then again, it looks awfully like a movie poster for a new Back to the Future movie, doesn’t it? But is that just a crazy thought? Isn’t a Ghostbusters redux enough? Would a Back to the Future movie be a fourth movie in the series with a continuation of the previous plot? Would it be a remake of the first movie, the one that started it all (please god, no remakes)? Most importantly, would said movie include the original cast? We have so many serious, serious questions that need answering. Our minds are filled with Back to the Future thoughts.

Over at TechTimes they were a little more level-headed about the whole thing and highlighted the fact that this could mean that the trilogy will be reintroduced to the big screen, like “the Jurassic Park 3D thing” was. It could also be teasing the release of new home video special editions, some crazy-awesome merch, or perhaps even a new theme park attraction with Universal Studios. Answers, we have few.

One thing’s for sure, we’ll be keeping an eye on this news to see what rolls out. As Marty McFly would say, “Heavy.”
