Alas, there may never be a sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada”
Grab a tissue and take a seat because we come with some sad news. Apparently, we’re never going to get to see what happens after Andy starts her new job and if she and Miranda ever cross paths again because the chances of a sequel are pretty nil.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stanley Tucci, one of the main stars of the movie, says the sequel to the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada “is never going to happen.”
He goes on to say, “That role was so great because it was so beautifully written and he was incredibly funny and there was a real substance to it.”
We agree. That’s why we want to see so much more of it.
“It was a truly great American studio movie in every way. Perfect in every way,” Tucci continues. “Sometimes it’s best just to leave things. If you try to redo it, let’s face it, there are very few sequels that actually work.”
We were hopeful for another big screen look into Andy’s life, who is played by the incredible Anne Hathaway, and curious if Miranda, played by Meryl Streep, lightened up over the years.
In 2013, when author Lauren Weisberger wrote a sequel novel to the original film’s novel, Revenge Wears Prada, our hopes were higher than ever that we could be seeing more of these wonderful characters. But, now it seems that dream is even further from happening. And we’re not gonna lie, we’re a little bummed.
