One of the stars of Netflix’s “The Crown” got exactly one word of advice from Prince William

All hail the queen — or in this case hail Netflix’s new series, The Crown! While portraying a royal can’t be easy, one of the stars of The Crown got a word of advice from Prince William himself, which made things a little easier.

Actress Claire Foy, who plays Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s newest drama, and Matt Smith, who plays Prince Phillip, talked all about their new show in an interview on Friday’s episode of The Graham Norton Show.

During the interview, the two discussed the series, which focuses on Queen Elizabeth II as she becomes the Queen of England at the young age of 25. The actress, who has to fill the real-life queen’s shoes, opened up about what it took to master the royal vocabulary and tone, which Foy explained was very difficult and detailed.

"[The royals] are properly posh and as the filming went on our accents got more ridiculous!" Foy told the show's host, Graham Norton.

Smith on the other hand admitted that he practiced for his role with a little help from a real-life royal. Well, technically it was with one word of advice from Prince William, but still he did get assistance before portraying his grandfather for the show.

"I thought, 'Oh god, I'm going to die of embarrassment,'" Smith said about his encounter with the prince, which happened when they briefly crossed paths at a polo match. "And all [Prince William] said was, 'Legend. He's an absolute legend.'"

Okay, so Prince William didn’t really help that much with his one word of advice, but Prince Phillip is a legend, so at least his statement about his grandfather was true!

During another point in the interview, Foy spoke about trying to master her complicated lines while being a new mom, which included balancing work and breastfeeding on set.

“I was an idiot — such a huge idiot!” the new mother, who welcomed her first child with husband Stephen Campbell Moore in February 2015, explained on the show. “I was a lunatic trying to breastfeed and be the Queen. It was an odd thing to do.”

"Every morning I'd be hooked up to the pump, and without fail someone would say, 'Someone's phone is going!'" she added.
