Netflix’s new Christmas movie stars your fave This Is Us character, needs to be on your must-watch list
Halloween may still be a week away, but if you’re already thinking about which Christmas movies you want to watch this year, we’ve got a good one for you. Netflix is debuting a brand new original movie starring William from This is Us—yes, we’re talking about legendary Emmy winner Ron Cephas Jones—and it might just end up being one of your new holiday favorites.
The movie is called The Holiday Calendar, and also stars Kat Graham (who you probably remember from The Vampire Diaries) as well as Quincy Brown and Ethan Peck. Even better? It’s due to hit the streaming service on November 2nd, which is so soon.
Here’s Netflix’s description of the movie: “A struggling but talented photographer inherits an antique holiday advent calendar, the contents of which seem to predict the future. Will this magical calendar lead her to love this holiday season?”
Sounds like exactly the kind of Christmas movie we could get on board with. And now that the trailer has debuted, we’re counting down the days until the movie hits our screens.

In the trailer, Jones’ character is gifting Graham’s character an advent calendar passed down from her grandmother. This gift comes at a time when Graham is at a crossroads in her life—she’s tired of working as a mall Santa photographer (classic Christmas movie job, right?) just as Brown’s character comes home for the holidays, looking all attractive and worldly.
But quickly, she discovers this advent calendar is actually magic and it starts making big things happen in her real life—including more than one guy competing for her heart. It’s the holiday rom-com of your dreams, and of course Jones is the one responsible for this magic calendar. We could totally see William giving Randall’s kids the same kind of gift.
The movie’s on Netflix next week, just in time to jump right into the holiday spirit as soon as Halloween ends. We can’t wait to see it…and, uh, does anyone know where we can get one of these magic calendars?
