You can now watch Netflix shows offline for only a DOLLAR
Lately, there’s been a lot of talk about Netflix making offline viewing available for their subscribers. This would be awesome, because it would give us the ability to watch things like Gilmore Girls and Kimmy Schmidt when wifi service isn’t around — like say, on a subway or in an airplane, or somewhere else where there’s not a copious amount of wifi. We’ve been talking about this for MONTHS, and it seems that Netflix is actually on the brink of making it happen.
Until that happens for real, though, do you wanna watch some Netflix shows for only a dollar?
PlayOn Cloud, a free video streaming recording app, allows you to download things you stream, for $1 each title. The video is then stored on your device for 30 days, and you can watch it as many times as you want before it disappears. Even better, it actually works with a dozen different streaming platforms, not just Netflix: Amazon Video, Hulu, Yahoo View, HBO Now, YouTube, NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, PBS and the CW.
As PlayOn Cloud explains:
When you select a video in the PlayOn Cloud app on your iPad or iPhone, we start a stream on a virtual PC in the cloud and record that stream like a DVR records cable TV. Once that recording is complete, an .mp4 file will be ready for you to enjoy. You can download that the .mp4 video file from the PlayOn Cloud app on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. We also email you a link to it so you can download it to any other device that does not have the app installed.
This sure sounds pretty awesome….but just remember, it’s a dollar an episode. If you want an entire season of House of Cards on your phone for 30 days, that’s going to cost you $13, which is almost double what it costs for a month of Netflix. But, if you do have a lot of traveling come up, and you KNOW you need that Parks and Rec episode for your journey, dropping $5 for five episodes doesn’t sound too bad.
