Say hello to your new favorite ’80s show, Netflix’s “Glow”
The trailer for Alison Brie’s new Netflix original series dropped today and it looks like we just found our new favorite TV show, Glow. The new series, produced by Orange is the New Black‘s Jenji Kohan, takes us back to the ’80s and introduces us to the glamorous lives of ladies’ wrestling.
Glow, aka Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, follows Ruth Wilder (Brie), a struggling actress, who in an attempt to save her fledgling career, gets sucked into the crazy world of female wrestling alongside a group of a dozen other Hollywood misfits.
It seriously looks like Glow is going to be *the* female empowerment series of the summer.

Starring alongside Brie are Nurse Jackie alum Betty Gilpin, who stars as Ruth’s rival and former soap opera star Debbie Eagan; Marc Maron as B-movie director Sam Sylvia; and Private Practice‘s Chris Lowell as producer Sebastian “Bash” Howard.
Glow was inspired by the ’80s TV series of the same name, which followed a real women’s wrestling team. The trailer shows the girls struggling to find success in Hollywood while dealing with incessant sexism and racial stereotypes. Just based on the trailer, Glow looks like it’s going to be hilarious, while not being afraid to get political.
The series was created by Homeland and Nurse Jackie‘s Liz Flahive and Orange is the New Black‘s Carly Mensch, so we know it’ll be brilliant and funny. The entire 10 episode first season drops on Netflix on June 23rd.
