The trailer for Netflix’s latest movie has everything: murder, mystery, Valentine’s Day, and Amber Tamblyn

Valentine’s Day is often seen as one of the most divisive holidays in the world. Fans of the holiday find the day romantic and fun. For the jaded and cynical, it’s just an excuse to spend a lot of money to prove you actually love somebody. Thanks, Hallmark.

For those looking to avoid the pitfalls of hopeless romance and a Nicholas Sparks marathon, we have the perfect, most bizarre Valentine’s Day movie for you, Girlfriend’s Day. On February 14th, Netflix is releasing this new film, which stars the dynamic duo of Bob Odenkirk and Amber Tamblyn.

Odenkirk stars as Ray, a romantic card writer who has lost his magic with the end of his marriage. Ray is lost, broke, and lonely in life, until he see’s California is launching a new holiday, Girlfriend’s Day, and is holding a contest to see who can write the most romantic card.

Those who submit the most romantic cards into the contest wind up dead. Obviously, there’s something very mysterious going on here, and it’s up to Ray — with the help of his new ladyfriend, played by Tamblyn — to figure it out. The film seems like it’s full of murder, mayhem, and Bob Odenkirk at his best, deadpan and sad, but also hilarious. So it’s a comedy, and it’s about love, but it’s maybe a little darker than most Valentine’s Day rom-coms.

The film looks like a really fun dig at Hallmark, the most notable company churning out romantic Valentine’s Day cards faster than we can say “Actually, we’re single.” We seriously can’t wait for this film to come out so we can curl up with a box of chocolates, a bottle of wine, and celebrate Valentine’s Day in style (in our PJs).
