Netflix has created the *perfect* holiday calendar to plan out our binge watching this season
The days are getting colder, and for many, big holidays are just around the corner. Netflix is always great to pair with a cozy night in. Now, they’ve upped the ante on festive cheer. It’s easy to find great Christmas movies to stream on Netflix – there are roundups of those aplenty. But it’s a bit more rare to get viewing suggestions from Netflix itself. And, tbh, some of them are a bit weird.
Now, Netflix isn’t the only one streaming festive cheer – you can find holiday movies online with several services. But, like the updated version of Baby It’s Cold Outside, this Netflix calendar definitely subverts tradition – in a good way.
Netflix’s guide to “can’t miss” seasonal offerings started on December 1st (aka, yesterday!) with A Very Murray Christmas. That means you might already be behind if you plan to strictly follow the calendar. However, you can always catch up over the weekend. After all, Sunday’s selection is a crackling fireplace, so it’s not like you’ll be missing much if you shift away from that. (Though the crackling fireplace is pretty great for background if you’re tree trimming or baking cookies.)
Here’s the Netflix calendar of holiday content. Behold it in all its glory.
Also, though, consider the fun/ weird/ eclectic suggestions. Classics like White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street are no surprise. But the Bojack Horseman Christmas Special and an episode of Black Mirror aren’t really traditional holiday fare.
Love Actually makes the calendar, of course. So does The Ref (which is hilarious but full of curse words that would totally scandalize the grandparents). Oh, also Animal House is on this calendar, though whether it’s for you to aspire to a hard-partying holiday or just to be another surprising addition, we’re not sure.
This calendar is a pretty perfect guide for our binge-watching this holiday season.
