Everything you need to know about Netflix’s feel-good cat show documentary
When it comes to parading domestic animals down a runway, dogs get all the shine. Dog shows get more publicity and goodwill than any other animal competition, but Netflix’s newest documentary is here to shake things up. Catwalk: Tales from the Cat Show Circuit is a 75-minute Netflix documentary that follows several gorgeous cats (and their owners) as they make their way through the Canadian cat show circuit.
The documentary stars two cats (Bobby, a Turkish Angora, and Oh La La, a red Persian) and their owners who go head-to-head throughout the competition season. This doc has everything: fancy cats, cats who can’t figure out obstacle courses, and did we mention the fancy cats, because cat-gazing is the real draw in this documentary.
It’s a relaxing watch, yes, but also surprisingly riveting. The official synopsis for the film sums it up best:
"Catwalk: Tales From the Cat Show Circuit [is] a raucous journey to the heart of one of the animal world's most colorful sub-cultures—competitive cat showing. In the end, dreams will be made, hopes will be crushed, and cats will be groomed. Cat showing may seem fluffy at first, but it's one tough gig...Catwalk is a lively coterie of curious characters and all-star felines clawing their way from contest to contest. It's a story of impassioned personalities and intense rivalries, packed with pathos, humor and ultimately, redemption."
Give the damn cat show documentary an Oscar! Catwalk: Tales From the Cat Show Circuit is streaming on Netflix now.
