You can request ‘Netflix and chill’ (among other things) with this new dating app

You know a meme has taken off when it becomes the center of a dating app. So it is with the tongue-in-cheek “Netflix and chill,” which was the modern equivalent of “Let’s just watch a movie,” evolved into a euphemism for hooking up, and has now come full circle to mean, well, let’s just watch a movie, one of many activity options on the new dating app TikiTalk.

A mishmash of several other dating app functions (location-based searching, the ability to suggest activities as an icebreaker), TikiTalk is centered around things to do versus simply, say, swiping through photos. Among other options like “Get Brunch” or “Get Korean BBQ” (a bold choice), you can literally request “Netflix and Chill” at the click of a button.

According to one of the app’s co-founders, “The universe just kind of came together. Netflix and chill is just so funny. It was everything we were about. Sending someone an invite or whatever, you can make them smile.” We must admit, asking somebody to Netflix and chill right off the bat is pretty ingenious: You get to figure out how Internet savvy they are off the bat, and then, well, you get to actually Netflix and chill, right?
