Neiman Marcus is finally creating plus size clothes, but there’s a catch
Friends, Neiman Marcus is offering plus size options, and we’re way glad to hear it. The brand will be creating Last Call Plus Size departments, including activewear, day and evening dresses, tops, jeans, pants, sweaters and coats sized up to 3X and 14 to 24, our friends at WWD report.
Like, finally! We want to live in a world where plus size people can find clothing with ease, and where more and more brands are including people of all sizes in their fashion, and not just as an afterthought.
The change came when the brand realized that they were excluding an entire group of people from their fashion, and that that groups includes a lot of people.
It simply doesn’t make sense to ignore an entire market just because, historically, you always have. The vice president of merchandising at Neiman Marcus Last Call, Frank Crisci, told WWD,
"I always have customers come up to me and say, ‘We love your jewelry. We love your shoes. When are you going to carry clothes for people like me?’ It struck a chord that we are not serving this customer the way we should be. It’s a huge market, and we’re not playing in it.
But there’s a catch: the Last Call Plus Size departments will only be available in five of its outlet stores. Luckily, we all have the power to change that!
Crisci explained,
“We were really looking to elevate the assortment, to give the customer great brands on trend, in season and in her size at a value. We’re testing it in five doors and if it does well there’s no reason we could not roll this out to all stores.
So if you want to have access to the brand, shop it! And Neiman Marcus might just offer even more plus size options, too.
