Neil Patrick Harris has a new TV show, and it sounds pretty genius

Neil Patrick Harris…wait for it…has a new TV show.

Yep, that’s right: Neil Patrick Harris is the host of Genius Junior,a new NBC game show that pits the smartest kids in the country against each other. The show will feature 12 teams of three children under age 12 who will answer questions on spelling, math, memory, and other subjects. The winning team will receive a Genius Junior Grant to help fund their bright academic futures.

The show will run for ten episodes and serves as an extension of the success of other kid-oriented game shows on NBC, like Little Big Shots. Hosted by Steve Harvey, the talent show that features young musicians, singers, and dancers has quickly become a fan favorite.

Warner Brothers will be collaborating with NBC on the project. Warner Bros executive Mike Darnell told Hollywood Reporterthere’s something particularly special about a show with extraordinary kids.

“Watching these amazing genius children solve problems that most adults would find impossible is absolutely riveting, he said. “Add in the super-smart and multitalented Neil Patrick Harris ... and it's a no-brainer that this show is going to work.

Harris said he’s very much looking forward to working with the young prodigies.

“I’m thrilled to be part of a project that shines a light on extraordinary children and challenges viewers to exercise their own minds, Harris said. "NBC is a great home for Genius Junior. Plus, the contestants are kids, so they're destined to be hilarious or, you know, snap. Win/win. I kid. #pun."

Classic Harris joke.

Given Harris and his husband David Burtka have two adorable children, we have no doubt NPH will be an awesome host. I mean, look how adorable this family is.

We’re looking forward to checking out the new show when it hits NBC.
