Author Neil Gaiman is going to perform the entire Cheesecake Factory menu for this fantastic reason
Neil Gaiman, the author behind the best-selling novel American Gods, is also an excellent speaker. The way he talks is both soothing and captivating at the same time. (He won Audiobook of the Year for crying out loud.) When comedian Sara Benincasa, a huge Cheesecake Factory fan, found herself perusing one of those gigantic Cheesecake menus, she thought: who would be great at reading this menu aloud onstage? Neil Gaiman.
Benincasa, wondering how she would be able to make this happen, asked Gaiman if he would read the menu for a good cause: false
And, lo and behold, he responded:
I have said Yes. If she makes it happen, for charity, I will do this thing. https://t.co/vkJWVDiYTJ

YASSSSSSSSS. So random and amazing. We love it.
And for the charity? Gaiman chose UNHCR, which is the United Nations Refugee Agency. Gaiman is currently a Goodwill Ambassador for the organization. Benincasa says on her fundraising page that she believes this is a “fantastic cause,” and we fully agree.
From UNHCR:
“An unprecedented 65.3 million people around the world have been forced from home. Among them are nearly 21.3 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18. There are also 10 million stateless people who have been denied a nationality and access to basic rights such as education, healthcare, employment, and freedom of movement.”
So far they have raised over $40,000! In just a few days! So impressive.
And since then, Gaiman has upped the ante even more. He will read Fox in Sox by Dr. Seuss if we get to $1 million! Lol. We would pay to see this.
And @neilhimself added on tumblr that if it gets to $1m he'll add in Fox in Sox. #NeilCake https://t.co/uornvZ4VOf

Neil himself is impressed. He tweeted just a little while ago:
Amazing. Over $40,000 already raised for @Refugees. And it's only just begun. https://t.co/plPNo1iJGb

Of his work with refugees Gaiman told UNHCR, “If anyone could have the conversations I had, if only everyone could sit and speak to refugees, face to face, they would see that we really are the same, that we really are part of one family. And, at its best, a family does all it can to support each other.”
Powerful.
