Would you drink a $1,000 cocktail with caviar in it?
We all love a good summer cocktail. But would you pay $1,000 for a Negroni with caviar in it? What if it was for a good cause?
June is Negroni month, and from the 5th to the 11th was Negroni Week. What is Negroni Week, you ask? It is a week dedicated to the famed cocktail and to raising money for various charities across the globe. Thrown by Imbibe Magazine and Campari, Negroni Week began in 2013 and has collectively raised $900,000. To participate, bars sign up worldwide and donate a portion of the Negronis ordered to the charity they have chosen.
A bar in Brooklyn, New York decided to go above and beyond.
Naturally, it’s in Bushwick.
The bar Lot 45 is selling an extravagant Negroni cocktail for $1,000. Luckily, the order comes with two. The luxe drink is made with Campari, Gran Patrón Platinum (which retails for $200 a bottle!), and Carpano Antica vermouth. It is then topped with shavings of a rare Italian truffle and garnished with a thin orange peel boat. On the boat floats Caluisius Siberian caviar and handmade cocktail caviar.
Oh! Also! There are edible platinum flakes, and the whole thing is smoked with applewood smoking wood chips. Why? To enhance the flavor of course. All the proceeds go to Muttville, an excellent senior dog rescue charity.
Even so, people on Twitter are reacting to the high price point.

The drink’s creator, Rael Petit, had this to say.
"As a bartender it is always an exciting time when Negroni Week comes around every year," he told AOL. "It's campaigns like this one that make my job so rewarding. For The $1,000 Negroni, all proceeds will be going to Muttville, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of senior dogs. Muttville rescues senior dogs and finds them new homes."
