Here’s how “NCIS” will say goodbye to Pauley Perrette when she leaves the show after 15 seasons

NCIS is about to lose a beloved, longtime cast member. Pauley Perrette, who has played forensic specialist Abby Sciuto since the series’ start in 2003, is bowing out after the show’s ongoing 15th season. But don’t worry, it’s all on good terms, AND Abby is going to get a very special send-off.

Perrette confirmed her departure this week, taking to Twitter to explain that yes, she will be leaving the show but no, she’s not leaving to pursue her own skin care line.

And CBS confirmed that there’s no bad blood between the network and the actress, and thanked her for the 16 (!!) years she’s given to the show.

So what sort of send-off will the show’s OG cast member get?

Well, we don’t know the specifics quite yet, but we do know that it’s going to be really good.

“We’ve known for some time this would be Pauley’s final season on NCIS and have been working toward a special send-off, the show's executive producers George Schenck and Frank Cardea explained. “From day one, she has brought incredible passion and specificity to the role. Abby is a character that inspires millions of fans around the world, and all of us at NCIS are appreciative of Pauley for portraying her.

Okay, well, we can definitely get on board with that.

There have, unfortunately, been quite a lot of goodbyes on NCIS lately. Sasha Alexander, Michael Weatherly, Lauren Holly, and Jennifer Esposito have all left the show — some in more gruesome, dramatic ways than others (RIP Caitlin).

Here’s hoping that Abby’s departure is pain-free and involves as much Caf-Pow as her heart desires.
