Naya Rivera from ‘Glee’ reveals getting an abortion in upcoming memoir
Our favorite bad girl on Glee was not only a bad-ass on the show, but it turns out she is in real life as well. In her upcoming memoir Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes and Growing Up (best name ever) Naya Rivera didn’t shy away from tough subjects. In the book, the star discussed a deal of personal issues, including getting an abortion while filming Glee.
With the wit we’ve all come to know and love, Rivera opened up about her childhood, her rise to fame, and her personal relationships in hopes of helping others. One of the most intimate moments in the book is the story of her abortion. In 2010, Rivera broke up with her boyfriend Ryan Dorsey to focus on her career and weeks later found out she was pregnant. The actress decided not to tell Dorsey about the pregnancy and terminate it.
“It was very scary to open up about everything,” Rivera told People. “It’s not something a lot of people talk about, but I think they should. I know some people might read it and say, ‘What the Hell?’ But I hope someone out there gets something out of it.”
I set out to write a book that was true to myself and would hopefully help others along the way. Media will always distort anything

Rivera’s book comes at a time when reproductive rights are under attack. Clinics have been shut down, doctors and women who chose to have abortions are demonized, and access to safe and respectful women’s health care is decreasing. Choosing to talk about a subject that still carries a lot of stigma is an inherently courageous act that should be celebrated. So many girls will read this book and feel less alone thanks to Rivera’s generous honesty.
I hope that you all enjoy my story and respect my good intentions in sharing them with you. Xoxo ❤️❤️ #sorrynotsorry
