This mermaid wants us to taco ’bout National Taco Day
Today is National Taco Day, which means we all have an excuse to get some tacos (I mean, not that we need one).
The interesting thing about tacos is how we each relate to them. Slowly, tacos have become a fast food tradition in the U.S., and in the ocean, too, believe me. And when we do a little digging, we find that they can be traced back to the silver mines in Mexico, during the 18th century, when the word “taco” referred to the little explosives workers used to extract the ore. (Because tacos are like a little eruptions of happiness, right?)
The history of tacos gets even more interesting because, over the course of time, tacos have grown to vary from place to place.
That would explain why almost anything can be put into a taco, from meat to fish — and nowadays, the ever-popular veggie taco. (Have we touched base on seaweed tacos?) That’s the beautiful thing about tacos: they’re timeless and can be eaten in so many different ways, depending on what you like (and where you’re from).
With all of this in mind, here are a few ways (the best deals on land) you can celebrate Taco Day. Hope you swim by next week!
