A National Poo Museum is opening and we have so many questions

You may want to bring a clothespin if you’re going to frequent the newest (and most bizarre) museum on the Isle of Wright: the National Poo Museum. Yes, it’s a museum devoted to poop.

The Isle of Wight Zoo in England announced on Tuesday that the new museum celebrating all things poo will be opening on Good Friday. “It’s stinky, unpleasant and sometimes dangerous stuff — but it’s all around us and inside us too — and perhaps surprisingly our planet would be a much poorer place without it,” a spokeswoman told the Isle of Wight County Press.

So what exactly can you find at the National Poo Museum? Freeze-dried poo, hanging from the ceiling, of all different species, such as meerkats, foxes, human babies, cows, and owls — including one specimen that is 38 million years old. There will also be a sample of poo with teeth and bones in it, one that looks like cereal bar, and even a kid’s shoe with cat poo in it. Artist Eccleston George has been hard at work, tweeting updates about the project.

“The National Poo Museum is set to be the place to immerse oneself in the wonder of excrement while finding out lots of extraordinary nuggets of information about all things poo-y,” the spokeswoman said. “Kids will love it!”

Shockingly, this won’t be the world’s first museum exhibition dedicated to poop. The South Florida Museum in Bradenton, Florida, tried to win a Guinness World Record for their collection of fossilized poo in 2015. Another poop museum opened outside of Milan, Italy that same year. And let’s not forget the Japanese museum devoted to toilets.

It sounds like an April Fool’s Day prank, but officials insist it’s real. We’ll be over here wondering about the first museum to potentially be super crappy. . . in a good way. Oh, what a world.
