Natalie Portman’s pregnancy will keep her from attending the Oscars
The Oscars are possibly the biggest night of the year for many actors — at least for those who are nominated. Unfortunately, Natalie Portman is unable to attend the Oscars even though she’s nominated for Best Actress for her role in Jackie. No matter how prestigious the event may be, some things just get in the way of attending. Like getting ready to give birth to a human baby, for example.
Portman is ready to give birth to her second child with French choreographer husband, Benjamin Millepied. So as much as she’d like to attend the show, her unborn baby has different plans for her that evening.
And those plans likely involve staying home in comfy clothes.
Doesn’t sound so bad, right? Portman won’t be attending the Oscars and didn’t attend Saturday’s Independent Spirit awards.
“Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards, Portman said in statement to 'People.' “I feel so lucky to be honored among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.
Okay, that totally sounds like the words of a woman who is bummed she can’t make it, but is also completely fine not having to find a dress to fit her adorable pregnant belly and deal with hair, makeup, etc.
Being eight or nine months pregnant will do that.
You can catch the Oscars tonight on ABC at 7 p.m. ET for the pre-show (dresses, dresses and more dresses) and 8:30 p.m. for the ceremony.
