OMG Natalie Portman is starring in a new miniseries from the ‘Friends’ creator
Natalie Portman on a TV show… sounds ridiculous, right? Throughout Natalie’s amazing career, she’s almost strictly been in movies, besides some voice-over work for The Simpsons and an extremely adorable visit to the Sesame Street set.
But, that’s all about to change, as Portman just signed on to star and produce a miniseries for HBO called We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves — and we know it’ll be good, because Marta Kauffman, one of the creators of Friends, helped make it. If anyone knows how to churn out some good TV, it’s definitely Marta Kauffman.
The miniseries will be based on a novel by Karen Joy Fowler which shares the same name. Fowler’s book is based around the Cooke family, namely 22-year-old Rosemary Cooke, who watches her family change and grow silent based on certain unfortunate circumstances.
It’s been reported that Portman will be playing the role of Rosemary (since, while she’s 35, she can really take on any age) and she’ll likely be the perfect fit for this project. If we know anything about Natalie Portman, it’s that she’s phenomenal at playing characters that are a bit more complicated.
The emotionally dark novel, released in 2013, quickly became a bestseller. After picking up our own copies, we’ll be setting our DVRs, since this is something we definitely don’t want to miss.
