This is why Natalie Portman hasn’t shown her son her “Star Wars” films

It’s pretty easy to love actress Natalie Portman. She’s talented, intelligent, poised — the whole shebang. And if you’re a Star Wars buff, you already know she played a major role in Episodes I, II, and III (one might even argue she was their saving grace…). Plus, as mother of Luke and Leia (and grandmother of Kylo Ren), she’s essentially the franchise matriarch. And fans tend to love her for it.

So who hasn’t seen these movies but still loves her a lot? Portman’s son, Aleph. As Portman explains on Jimmy Kimmel Live, her son hasn’t seen any of the Star Wars prequels. “It’s kind of a shame because you know when I made it, I was like, ‘This is going to be the coolest thing, one day when I have kids, I can show them,” she said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOdV6oXPeJ4

So, why wait to show him the films? As Portman points out, “I die in the movies. I feel like it’s kind of a scary thing to show your kid.” While none of us have parents who die in mega-popular movies, we have to admit, it seems like a pretty darn scary thing to imagine.

Probably a good judgment call to wait a few years on that one, Natalie. We get you.
