Nasim Pedrad plays a teenage boy in this new TBS comedy, and the teaser looks epic

With so many great TV shows coming to an end soon, it’s always encouraging to hear about new exciting projects on the horizon. And it’s even better if they star SNL alums. In today’s great news, Nasim Pedrad officially has her own TV show coming to TBS—and she plays a teenage boy.

TBS announced the news today, May 15th, that the comedy series—called Chad— was created and written by Pedrad. The show stars Pedrad as the titular character, a 14-year-old Persian-American boy who wants nothing more than to be popular. Chad getting greenlit is a huge deal, partly because, as Vulture notes, Fox initially ordered a pilot of the series back in 2016. Sadly, that pilot never saw the light of day, but now, TBS has given Pedrad’s show a second chance.

"Thom Hinkle and I pursued this show for three years and it was well worth the wait. Chad is creative, diverse and inclusive storytelling that epitomizes the TBS brand," TBS and TNT general manager Brett Weitz told THR in a statement. “Nasim Pedrad is a comedic mastermind and profound storyteller."

Pedrad celebrated the announcement in an emoji-filled Instagram post.

"What a ride," she wrote. "This show has been such a labor of love. After a few years and a couple of networks it finally found its home. So grateful to TBS for giving this little baby life. Can't wait to show you all CHAD!"

So far, 10 episodes of the show have been ordered, and although we don’t yet know when it will air, it already has a trailer. Watch it below to see Pedrad’s spot-on impression of a high-school boy.

We can’t wait for this show!
