Naomi Watts shared a tribute to her ex Heath Ledger on the 10-year anniversary of his death
Today, January 22nd, 2018, marks the 10-year-anniversary of Heath Ledger’s death. And actress Naomi Watts, who dated Ledger from 2002 to 2004, just shared a beautiful tribute to him on her Instagram account.
While Watts doesn’t publicly discuss her past relationship with Ledger often, she did chat with More in 2011 about their time together, and she clearly has nothing but love for her ex. “We had a beautiful relationship, only a couple of years, but he was a man who was completely full of joy, and there was a lot of laughing and affection,” she said. “He was really a very special soul and made a great impact on my life. And a great actor, but I know there was so much more to come. And it’s a tragedy for his little daughter.” Watts was referring to Matilda Rose, who Michelle Williams gave birth to in 2005.
Watts also attended the September 2017 premiere of the documentary I Am Heath Ledger about the actors’ life, recalling that it was “a very sad day” when she learned of his passing.
And now Watts has paid him tribute yet again.
"Thinking about this beautiful soul today. 10 years ago he left this world," Watts stated. "He was a true original. Heart always on his sleeve, with the most powerful charisma, strength, humor and talent. I will never forget his gentle spirit."
We’re sending so much love to all of Ledger’s loved ones today. As much as we miss him, we know his incredible body of work will live on for generations. R.I.P. Heath.
