Nancy Pelosi ripping up Trump’s State of the Union speech is Twitter’s latest favorite meme
At the end of last night’s State of the Union address, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi tore a copy of President Donald Trump’s speech in half. And yes, the internet is currently on fire. Thank you for asking.
Pelosi, after her blatant act of defiance against the impeached president, told reporters outside the Capitol Building that Trump’s speech was “a manifesto of mistruths,” according to CNN. She later echoed this sentiment in a press release published via Speaker.gov.
“The manifesto of mistruths presented in page after page of the address tonight should be a call to action for everyone who expects truth from the President and policies worthy of his office and the American people,” the February 4th statement reads.
Pelosi spoke specifically about the issue of healthcare and how she found Trump’s State of the Union lacking in such a vital area for U.S. citizens.
"We are always hopeful when a President makes a State of the Union address," she writes. "The issue of major concern to most Americans is healthcare...We had been told the President would have a positive message on healthcare. However, President Trump’s address tonight gave no comfort to the 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions or the families struggling to afford the prescription drugs they need."
Pelosi called the address a “call to action,” but many think the real call to action was Pelosi doing this right after President Trump concluded his address:

For the nth time this presidential term, Pelosi was meme-ified for showing the public how she really feels. And although we completely understand the severity of and intention behind this action, we can’t help but laugh.

false
Even when Pelosi offered a more immediate response to her speech-tearing prior to issuing a formal statement, the internet couldn’t help itself.

Though people are having fun with the meme, Pelosi is receiving just as much hate as she is praise. Even some Democrats are peeved about the way the Speaker handled the State of the Union address. However, we can only imagine Pelosi has had it up to here with the political antics currently at play, and sometimes, you just have to release some steam any way you can.
Needless to say, the Pelosi paper meme is going to come in handy for many tweets to come.
