The most mesmerizing nail trends at New York Fashion Week this season
Remember when earlier this summer, we reported that French manicures were making a major comeback? Everyone from Ariana Grande, to Bella Hadid, to Beyoncé (!) was sporting the nail polish trend, albeit in a much more modern way, thanks to updated shapes and experimental colors that make a huge difference in the finished look.
Well, we hate to say we told you so, but as the first leg of Fashion Month comes to a close, we can’t help but take notice of all of the, yes, you guessed it—French manicures on the runway. From barely there, super-thin tips at Khaite, to black tips at Rag & Bone, and every other iteration of the look possible (including one made of pearls!), it was the It nail polish trend of the season, for sure.
Below, we’ve rounded up the best nail polish trends from New York Fashion Week this season—and no, they’re not all French manicures.
For Jeremy Scott, Miss Pop created a wild, colorful playground, writing on Instagram that the designer “not only inspires me but gives me the opportunities to paint and play in the fun and fab world of his imagination.”
Alice + Olivia
Pearl! Encrusted! French! Tips! Gina Edwards, courtesy of KISS Nails, was the mastermind behind this intricate, hand-glued look, which she calls a “French Pearl Drip.”
Seafoam tips paired with glitter? We’ll take it. This (somehow still minimal?) look is so pretty, DIY-worthy, and wearable.
If you’re a negative space lover, this Ulla Johnson look courtesy of Paintbox, will make you drool.
Leave it to Jin Soon Choi to create a tough-yet-chic nail look that’s to die for. For Tibi, she matched each model’s nail color with their skin tone, and topped each mani off with a couple of nail rings.
The queen of over-the-top nail designs, Mei Kawajiri, created this nail look for the Marc Jacobs show. Because when everyone else goes minimalist, you can rely on Marc to go way, way maximalist.
Rag & Bone
Jin Soon created several looks for Rag & Bone (scroll through to see them all), but these black French tips are easily our favorites.
Oscar de la Renta
Miss Pop created coral French tips with coordinating cuticle dots on top of flesh-toned polish—that suited each model’s skin tone.
Last but certainly not least: the “blink and you’ll miss it” French manicure.
